A Warm Welcome Awaits

The day centre prides itself on its family atmosphere and you will often hear staff and clients refer to ourselves as the day centre family. We understand the pressures of living alone and the care responsibilities of looking after a loved one. Every member of the team will work hard to make you feel comfortable and welcome at the day centre and do their best to answer any question you may have.

Our History

Coundon Day Care has been running for nearly 40 years, it was created by members of Coundon Methodist Church when they realised there was a need to bring the older generation together to overcome loneliness and isolation. Their mission had always been to provide quality day care at an affordable rate and this ethos has continued, bringing love and friendship along the way.

Coundon Care is an independent charity and is run by a board of trustees. It receives no government or local authority funding. The day centre is subsided and funded by grants and donations to enable us to deliver quality and affordable care.

In 2016 when the Methodist church was set for demolition we moved to new premises based at Allesley Park Community Centre and we converted the charity in to a (C I O) Charity Incorporated Organisation.

Getting Active

We arrange many activities at the centre to stimulate mind and body from games to musical entertainment but if joining in, is not your thing then that’s ok too, many people like to just sit and have a natter and as all activities are lead by clients, you can just go with “your” flow.

Our Services

We believe that families should feel reassured and confident in the quality of care and company their loved ones receive during their visits with us.

We offer a range of services that ensure your loved ones are well looked after, develop a sense of belonging within the community and provide opportunities to interact and socialise.

Quality Entertainment

To help keep the mind and body stimulated we have daily entertainment which includes singers, keep fit, dancing and much more.

During the day we provide a wide range of activities, allowing guests to do as much or as little as they like.

However, if guests want to bring along their knitting or read a book and just relax with time to themselves then they are always more than welcome to.

Home Cooked Food

While at Coundon Care we provide all guests with a nutritional two course home cooked meal. All our meals are prepared fresh on site by our resident cook.

Throughout the day we also serve a range of refreshments.

All meals and refreshments are chosen to provide nutritional benefit as well as catering to members requests and special dietary needs.

Building Friendships

Great friendships are often made between staff and members at the Centre. Throughout the year we create regular opportunities to meet other community members.

There’s always something exciting to look forward to at Coundon Care. It’s just one of the things that sets our Senior Day Care apart from the rest. We’re passionate about providing opportunities to make new memories and long time friends while visiting.

What Our Visitors Have to Say…

Joy | Daughter of Doreen

“There is always a warm welcome on arrival at the centre. The staff are all so friendly and caring. It’s now the highlight of my mum’s week. It has really made a difference to her and I recommend it to anyone, especially those experiencing loneliness.”

David | Son of Pauline

“Mum certainly enjoys her day, always has a big smile on her face when I pick her up. The activities like singing and visiting singers are all brilliant and really get the visitors in a good mood. Please keep up the good work! The team are exceptional, helpful, polite and fun.”

Maria | Nurse

“Coundon Care is a wonderful service which I am so glad we found for my dad who attends twice a week. The facilities are lovely but most importantly the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble and I know that whilst he is there, he is safe and happy.”

Ian | Husband of Mary

“Mary has Alzheimer’s and Dementia. The care and monitoring of Marys well-being is excellent. The staff are both caring and kind. Mary enjoys going to Coundon Care, excellent service including transport to and from the centre. Thank you to everyone at Coundon Care for looking after Mary, certainly good value for money.”

Visitors Daughter

“Mum started visiting Coundon Care in September 2019. She is picked up and brought back home by the staff who are really helpful, thoughtful and caring. Nothing is too much trouble for them. On her return she is always smiling and says she has enjoyed herself. I do not worry about her when she is at Coundon Care as I feel she is properly looked after while she is in their care. I would thoroughly recommend Coundon Care to anyone looking for somewhere for a loved one to attend as a reliable and caring day centre.”

Les | Visitor

“I am very happy with the level of service, I get picked up at my door, taken to the Allesley Park Community Centre where I meet other people. There are entertainers, food, music and most importantly it gets me out and about.”

Visitors Son

“My father is generally housebound and uses Coundon Care twice a week. He looks forward to the attention, care, and company that is provided. Without Coundon Care, his wellbeing would likely be significantly impacted. Fantastic people and brilliant service!”

Visitors Daughter

“My mum has just started with Coundon Care and couldn’t be happier. The staff have made her so welcome and comfortable plus she is so much more alert on the days after she has visited. I have really appreciated having her transport arranged and it was really thoughtful that they send videos of mum at the centre.”

Visitors Daughter

“My mother has attended Coundon Care for a number of years now and the staff are always very friendly, caring and have a positive attitude. The activities and company make the centre ideal for my mother.”

Julie

“Our family member has enjoyed his first week. Got his social life back. Thank you to these amazing people Kay, Sue, Mark and the team. I’d really recommend Coundon Day Care. No one needs to be alone and lonely.”
